Double Olympic champion Faith Kipyegon has won the 1500 metres race after clocking 3:54.87 at World Athletics Championships in Budapest, Hungary.
Kipyegon has made the country proud by bagging the first gold medal at the ongoing championships in Budapest.
Congratulating the athlete on X, formerly Twitter, President William Ruto described Kipyegon as a rare athlete and legend whose talent is unmatched.

On her part, Kenya’s First Lady Mama Rachel Ruto also congratulated Kipoyegon and said her performance has made Kenya proud.
"The colours of our flag shine even brighter today, thanks to Faith's exceptional achievement. She has made Kenya proud," Mama Rachel said.
