Numerous young people from Marsabit County have registered for Naomi Waqo's women's representative-organized countywide athletic events.

12 teams, 8 men's teams, and 4 women's teams, selected from four sub-counties of Marsabit County, will compete in the Hon Naomi Super Cup event, which will take place from the 25th to the 27th of this month.

The event, according to Hon Waqo, intends to promote talent, develop unity, combat drug misuse, female genital mutilation, and youth empowerment in the area.

The four elements we selected as the event's subject are essential to us and serve as a solid foundation for our age, she said.

We want to promote harmony and understanding among the 15 diverse communities in the area via peace. We also want to develop the next generation of sports stars and educate our youth against FGM, drug usage, and alcohol misuse," he continued.

The competition coordinator, Adannur Dambi Wario, stated that trophies, cash awards, jerseys, and diplomas will be given to the overall champions, first and second runners-up.

At the conclusion of the competition, the top goalkeepers, midfielders, strikers, and defenders will also be honored.

According to Wario, we will give all participants a transportation allowance, lodging, and certificates because we are bringing teams from the Saku, Moyale, North Horr, and Laisamis sub-counties.

The Marsabit branch of the Football Kenya Federation (FKF) has praised the competition, saying it will keep young people interested and provide them a stage to show off their abilities and deepen their bonds.

Through Mohammed Nane, FKF urged Marsabit officials to expedite the construction of the stadium and launch a number of sporting events in the region.

"This competition proves that we are moving in the right direction. More significant events like the Marsabit Premier League are now required. As long as we stretch our wings and combine our resources, the future is bright, and we can do it, Nane stated.

The peace agenda adopted for the competition comes at a time when the county is enjoying steady peace following years of occasional tribal conflicts, cattle theft, and property destruction marked by political unpredictability.

These problems have compelled the political class to promote love, peace, and unity among the population through various methods.
