Martin Imbalambala, a former Harambee Stars player renowned for his exceptional skills, earned praise from many in the sporting world. However, the father of three, now living with a disability, shared that he lost his eyesight in November 2018 while residing at his brother's house in Thika due to a knee injury. During that period, he began to endure persistent headaches and fevers that progressively worsened with each passing day.

However, on one fateful night, the player vividly remembered experiencing pain, for which he resorted to using a local remedy for relief before going to sleep. To his dismay, when he awoke at around 6 a.m. for training, he asked his wife to turn on the lights, and she informed him that the lights were already on. Expressing shock, he then requested her to pass him his phone, but as he scrolled through it, he could only perceive the vibrations without any visual cues.

He was promptly taken to the hospital, where, despite assurances of his eventual recovery, the player has yet to regain his eyesight. Despite this life-altering setback, he remains resilient and determined. Recently, he achieved the milestone of graduating and also seized an opportunity to represent individuals with disabilities at the Kenya Footballers Welfare Association.
