According to a report from Insider on Wednesday, Elon Musk, the proprietor of the social media platform X, is contemplating the possibility of discontinuing the service previously known as Twitter in Europe. This consideration comes in response to a recent regulation pertaining to internet platforms in the region.

An insider familiar with the company revealed that the billionaire has broached the subject of either discontinuing the app's availability in the region or implementing a block for users within the European Union.

In August, the European Union ratified the Digital Services Act (DSA), outlining regulations aimed at curbing the dissemination of harmful content, restricting specific user-targeting techniques, and facilitating the sharing of select internal data with regulators and affiliated researchers, among other provisions.

X has yet to provide a response to a request for comment from Reuters.
