Mombasa County Governor Abdulswammad Sherrif Nassir has said that the launch of direct flights between Mombasa and Dubai by Air Dubai will boost the coastal region’s economy.

Speaking on his X page while hosting the Regional Manager of Fly Dubai, Bobby Koshy, he said the region will largely benefit from the foreign destinations.

“It is my firm belief that the economy of Mombasa and the Coast region in general will benefit from direct flights from foreign destinations,” the governor said on his X page.

This comes shortly after the Kenya Airports Authority (KAA) announced on Thursday that the debut flight will start on January 17.

Fly Dubai is set to hold four weekly direct flights from Moi International Airport, Mombasa, to Dubai International Airport, Dubai.

“Fly Dubai is also set to grace the coastal skies of Mombasa starting the 17th of this month, with 4 weekly direct flights from Moi Intl. Airport to Dubai Intl. Airport, Dubai,” KAA stated.

This comes a week after the Kenya Port Authority (KPA) revealed that Mombasa is set to receive more cruise calls before the end of the season.

“Cruise tourism industry players have indicated that more cruise calls are expected before the end of the season in April Next year,” KPA added.
