Kakamega Governor Fernandes Barasa has commissioned a 9.3 kilometer tarmac road in Residents of Ikolomani constituency .

The Bushiangala-Eregi-Lusiola road was constructed at a cost of Kes300 million.

Governor Fernandes Barasa said bodaboda riders and other road users previously faced challenges and delays in transportation as the road was impassable.

Further, he said the county government was losing over Kes7 million in maintaining the road network from Bushiangala to Lusiola.

The Governor noted that the remaining part is the construction of a bridge at Bushiangala to connect people from Idakho Central and Idakho south to Chavakali.

“We are going to allocate funds for the construction of the bridge this year,” he added

Barasa also promised to work on a Community Health Volunteers (CHVs) Bill to address the challenges of Ikolomani residents as they remain critical in provision of primary healthcare in the villages.

He also said the county government will ensure all CHVs are enrolled with the National Health Insurance Fund and improve on their monthly stipend.
