As part of its move to environmentally friendly vehicles, Super Metro has presented its first fleet of electric buses.

The Central Business District (CBD)-Kitengela and CBD-Kikuyu routes will be served by the new bus.

The passenger service vehicle (PSV) company has a 25-seater electric bus through BasiGo, an electronic bus company.

On the African continent, BasiGo aims to offer environmentally responsible transportation options.

More than 15 electric buses will be provided by the company to transport saccos in Nairobi. Citi Hoppa is another partner of the company.

The K6 type, a 25-seat electric bus with a range of 250 kilometres and a recharge period of less than four hours, was purchased by Super Metro.

This comes after the Electronic Sector Association of Kenya (ESAK) signed an MoU with the Association for Electronic Mobility and Development in Africa – a step towards improving the visibility of the transport landscape in Kenya and Africa at large.

There is also an electric company by the name ROAM that has since partnered with Kenya Mpya Sacco with its buses operating along Thika Road.
