The Kibos school for the blind which hosts more than two hundred visually impaired students in Kisumu is set to get a facelift.

This follows a partnership between Crown Paints and Jambojet to boos education and environmental sustainability.

The partnership will ensure the structures of the school are repainted and in good condition.
Jambojet has been supporting the school since 2020.

On its part, Crown Paints will provide paint and manpower for the project, that targets repainting 16 structures.

The structures to be repainted include an administration block, 2 classrooms, a dining hall, an assembly hall and a gate.

The announcement follows a request made by the school administration to Jambojet during a prior visit in 2022 for assistance in enabling and restoring the school infrastructure.

Crown Paints Group Chief Executive Officer, Rakesh Rao noted that education is key to empowering the community.

“Market leaders need to set the pace in the provision of service to our communities,” he said.

Further, Rao noted that the initiative to repaint the school will go a long way in enhancing the school’s image and creating a positive ambience for the special students and teachers to enjoy learning.

On his part, Jambojet Chief Executive Officer Karanja Ndengwa said education is one of the pillars of Jambojet’s sustainability program.

According to Mr Karanja, they have previously donated learning aids like braille printers, machines, and paper to Kibos for the Blind.

" As the leading player in aviation, our focus in Education aims at reducing the barriers to skill development, aligned with the sustainable development goal,’’ he said.

In 2016, Jambojet unveiled a sustainability initiative with an emphasis on education and the environment.

The airline presently supports 6 industries in the environment across its 7 domestic destinations, as well as 5 programmes in education that have an impact on more than 50 students.
