French automaker Peugeot has launched a new pickup Peugeot Landtrek in the Kenyan market to meet growing demand.
French Minister Delegate for Foreign Trade Olivier Becht has launched a new pickup truck in the Kenyan market to meet growing demand.
The French Minister said the launch highlights the strong partnership between France and Kenya.
“I am confident that the Kenyan people will appreciate the vehicle’s outstanding performance and exceptional design, which make it an ideal partner for any adventure or professional undertaking,” Becht said.
On her part, Urysia Limited Managing Director Claude Mwende said the model is suited for the Kenyan market.
“We believe that it is an exceptional vehicle that offers the perfect combination of robustness, loading capacity, modern and attractive style and exceptional adaptability, making it well-suited for the Kenyan market,’’ Mwende said.
French Ambassador to Kenya Arnaud Suquet stated that Peugeot Landtrek is a phenomenal vehicle tailormade for markets such as Kenya.
“I am confident the vehicle will offer great value to users in this region,’’ he added.
Its launch comes six years after Urysia and PSA Group signed an agreement with the Kenyan government to assemble Peugeot vehicles locally.
With a payload of more than one tonne, Landtrek has a towing capacity of up to three tonnes.
It has a 110 kW, 1.9-litre turbodiesel engine and 6-speed automated transmission.
Six airbags are included in the vehicle, and it has an electronic stability programme with hill descent control, hill start aid, and trailer swing control, which kicks in automatically when the trailer veers off course.
