The National Hospital Insurance Fund (NHIF) is set to appoint a new Chief Executive Officer (CEO) as Peter Kamunyo’s term ends on April 14, 2023.
NHIF Board of Management Chairman Michael Kamau has confirmed that Kamunyo’s tenure elapses next month.
In a statement, Kamau revealed that the employment contract of the Chief Executive Officer of NHIF, Dr Peter Kamunyo, comes to an end on 14th April 2023.
“ In light of (1) and aware of the major reforms underway at the Fund as part of the Kenya Kwanza’s transformative agenda, the Board has decided to open up the position of Chief Executive Officer for competitive recruitment exercise,” he said.
Kamunyo will be leaving the insurance body after three years of tenure.
He joined NHIF in 2020, succeeding Nicodemus Odongo, who was serving on an interim basis.
Kamunyo joins an exodus of former President Uhuru Kenyatta’s top government officials who have either left or resigned under unclear circumstances.
“The recruitment to fill all vacant positions will commence in due course. The board takes this opportunity to thank Dr. Peter Kamunyo for his service,” the statement further said.
