Safaricom has appointed Fawzia Ali as its new Chief Consumer Business Officer to grow the telco’s market share and consumer solutions through product development, digital CVM, terminal strategy, and customer insights.
Ali took over the position in an acting capacity while doubling as Mobile Data Tribe Lead in July 2022.
She joined Safaricom in 2007 as a senior manager reporting on accounts receivable and M-Pesa.
Thereafter, she served as the Head of Consumer Planning and Pricing within Finance before taking up a sales role as the Head of Regional Sales and Operations—at Coast.
Fauzia was named the head of consumer sectors in 2018 and the head of digital goods and services in 2019.

Fawzia has almost 20 years of expertise in finance, sales, and business, according to the company's chief executive officer, Peter Ndegwa, making her one of the leaders at that level.
Safaricom CEO Peter Ndegwa noted that Fawzia Ali’s appointment as Chief Consumer Business Officer is effective 15th March 2023.

She has held this role in an acting capacity since July 2022 and has provided exemplary leadership and inspiration to the team during this period. In addition, she mentors female coworkers as part of Safaricom's Women in Leadership initiative and served as a Trustee for the Safaricom Foundation from 2015 to 2022.
She graduated from the University of Nairobi with a Bachelor of Science in Food Science and Technology and from the Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology with a Master of Business Administration.
In Kenya, she is also a Certified Public Accountant.
