Kenya Railways on Sunday evening announced the suspension of its commuter train services scheduled for Monday.

In a statement on its special media pages, Kenya Railways management said all Madaraka Express link trains between Nairobi Central Station and the Nairobi Terminus will run as scheduled.

The management has not disclosed any details regarding the suspension of the commuter train services.

However, the Kenya management has expressed their sincere apologies to all esteemed customers.

The suspension occurs on the same day that the Opposition will stage its second nationwide demonstration.

The leader of the Azimio la Umoja coalition, Raila Odinga, declared last week that the coalition would stage large-scale demonstrations twice each week.

He said that every Monday and Thursday of the week, they would be protesting.

But, Inspector General of Police Japhet Koome on Sunday called off the Azimio la Umoja Coalition's planned statewide protests.

The IG has stated that no protests are allowed this week.

Koome threatens to arrest the notable individuals, including Raila if they attempt to hold protests.

The police have issued a warning against any large-scale protest gatherings, claiming they are prohibited by law.

After arresting demonstrators in the streets, the IG declared that police would treat everyone equally.

The government will take appropriate action against anyone who tries to obstruct commerce, according to President William Ruto.

When it came to the damage to property, he claimed that no one was exempt from the law.

President Ruto emphasized that there was no reason for anyone to stand in the way of free enterprise, disrupt business or sabotage economic activity for personal interest.

However, Raila has maintained that next week's demos will be held within the law.
