The Kenya Reinsurance Corporation has appointed Hillary Maina Wachinga as Managing Director.

He takes over from Jadiah Mwarania, who left the corporation in December 2022 on terminal leave, after serving in the position since April 11, 2011.

Wachinga was employed by Kenya Re-Insurance as the risk and compliance manager before to this assignment.

He has experience in a variety of business areas and has worked as a risk manager for more than 17 years.

“His work experience as a Risk and compliance operator at Kenya Reinsurance group has exposed him to a deep understanding of different cultures, business and regulatory environments in Kenya, East Africa and Asia,” Kenya Re said in a statement.

Wachinga graduated from the University of Nairobi with a PhD in business administration and a bachelor's degree in computer science, respectively.

He is also a certified enterprise risk manager (CERM), certified compliance analyst, certified in risk information and control (CRISC), certified information systems auditor (CISA), and certified public accountant of Kenya (CPAK) (CCA).

Wachinga also holds credentials from Strathmore University in project management, the College of Insurance in insurance proficiency, and the Centre of Corporate Governance in corporate governance.

He is a poet, an ardent golfer, and a current part-time lecturer at Strathmore Management School.
