To authenticate the validity of some accounts, Google is adding blue check marks to its email service Gmail.

In a post published on Wednesday, the business stated that the verification badge would be displayed under the account names of companies implementing the Brand Indicators for Message Identification (BIMI) function, which was introduced in 2021.

To display a brand logo as an avatar in an email, BIMI needs senders to employ strong authentication and validate their brand logo.

"For senders who have adopted BIMI, users will now receive a checkmark indicator. "This will assist users in distinguishing messages from legitimate senders from impersonators," Google added.

The capability will be helpful in assisting users and email security systems in identifying and preventing spam.

On the other hand, businesses will benefit from increased trust in email sources of information, which will help them leverage their brand trust.

It will be available beginning May 3.

Gmail joins the ranks of other online platforms with verification badges, including Facebook, YouTube, Instagram, Pinterest, and TikTok.

LinkedIn has recently created their own, and Facebook and Twitter have gone higher recently to monetize the badges by charging users to obtain them.
