Old Mutual will conduct intensive training programs for its agents to empower them and maintain a competitive edge in the market.

The training aims to make the insurer’s agents well-rounded by equipping them with the necessary skills to represent and reflect the brand’s customer service and experience values.

Old Mutual Group East Africa (EA) CEO Arthur Oginga said the training would include leadership, customers, customer service, sales and training supports.

Speaking during the Old Mutual Inaugural East Africa Regional (EAR) Awards, noted that agents have emerged as the largest growing source of premium contributions, with their proportional contribution to total premiums expanding consistently yearly.

“ As a result, we acknowledge their pivotal role in our growth and the industry. To foster their development while boosting their competitiveness, we are considering a tier system that enables them to build a career with us,” he said.

He added that by staying with us longer, they enhance their skills and climb up the tiers, resulting in higher remuneration.

Old Mutual hosted its inaugural EAR Awards to incentivise the agents, which saw top agents awarded for their stellar performance with trophies, cash prizes, and local and international trips.

“Our agents play a crucial role in our business model as they serve as the vital connection to our valued customers. As such, we deeply appreciate and recognise their outstanding contributions,” Old Mutual General Insurance Managing Director Japheth Ogallo said.

“These awards serve as a means to attract talented agents who can effectively distribute our solutions to customers, retain our top-performing agents, and duly acknowledge their exceptional performance within our organisation.”

At least 60 agents were awarded during the awards ceremony, with those who won the Life Business Award bagging local trips to Zanzibar and Namibia and an international trip to the United States.

Those who won the General Insurance Awards bagged local, regional, and international trips.
