What is Hustler Fund

Hustler fund is a fund by President William Ruto's government that is used to help small businesses. On November 30, 2022, the Head of State Launched the small loan scheme at Green Park Terminus.

1. How do I access the fund

Simply dial *254#

2. What is the range of the loan

The loan is between Ksh.500 and Ksh.50,000 depending on your credit score




3. What is the repayment period

The repayment period is 14 days

4. What is the interest

Hustler fund interest is 8% p.a. For example, when a customer is given 500, in 14 days, the interest will be Ksh.1.53. The customers will repay Ksh.501.53




5. What will happen if I default

If the loan is not repaid in 14 days, the customer's credit rating is affected. However, a customer is given 15 more days. At this stage, if the loan is not repaid, the interest rises to 9.5% a year.

After more than 30 days of default, the borrower loses all the credit scores accumulated, and the Hustler Fund account is frozen.

6. How do I know my loan is approved?

After your loan is approved, it will be sent to your mobile money account. 95% is deposited in your money wallet and 5% in your savings account scheme of the hustler fund

7. How does the savings account scheme work

The 5% that goes to the savings scheme is split into two: 70 percent of this goes to long-term savings (pension) and 30 percent to short-term savings.

8. What do I need to qualify for a loan

  • Be a Kenyan citizen 18yrs and above
  • Have a valid ID card
  • Registered mobile money account: Mpesa, Airtel Money, or T/Kash.
  • SIM card must have been in use for more than 90 days.
