NCBA Bank on Tuesday opened its 85th branch in Chwele, Bungoma County to reach more customers beyond urban areas.

Bungoma County Governor Kenneth Lusaka noted that the County boasts a population of close to 2 million people with a density of about 600 people per square kilometre.

Further, he noted that previously, most people would have to travel to Bungoma or use other mobile financial platforms to satisfy their business needs.

“Today, I would like to encourage all residents of Chwele to take advantage of the financial services that are now accessible through the opening of this NCBA branch in order to build the economy of our county.”

On his part, Group Executive Director and CFO David Abwoganoted that as the third-largest bank in Kenya and one of the fastest-growing banks in Africa, they have a pivotal role in growing the economy.

The outlet is the second to be opened in the devolved unit, making it the 10th county with more than one NCBA branch.

The initial banking facility, which was started in February this year, has hired eight staff, with more than 270 customers accessing services.

Some of the financial products and solutions the bank will offer include savings and current accounts, loans, investment solutions for wholesalers, and retail asset finance solutions.

Its mobile and Internet banking services will also enable customers to access their accounts wherever they are.
