Small and Medium-Sized Enterprises(SMEs) are set to enjoy digital payment solutions.

This is after Absa Bank Kenya partnered with Visa to introduce Absa Mobi Tap Solution, a feature that allows small businesses to accept card-based payments from customers’ Android smartphones.

According to Absa Bank Business Banking Director Elizabeth Wasunna, merchants must download the Mobi Tap app before accepting payments.

“As a digitally-led bank, we are excited to introduce another first-to-market solution that provides merchants with an innovative and cost-effective solution for their day-to-day business,” she said.

Additionally, she noted that the new solution will enable businesses to accept contactless payments faster, easier, and more securely, facilitating the adoption of a cashless society for the benefit of all.

Visa Kenya Country Manager Eva Ngigi-Sarwari, noted that the feature will provide cutting-edge, tailored solutions to their customers.

“Along with the ability to accept more payments more easily and grow revenue, Mobi Tap will help increase financial inclusivity by providing under or unbanked SMEs greater access to digital payments.”

She also said that the solution allows sellers to take advantage of the technology they already have – mobile phones, which are widely owned nationwide.
