The High Court has issued a second court order barring the implementation of the Finance Act 2023 following an application filed by one Peter Agoro.

The petitioner argues that the Finance Bill 2023 was founded on illegality, infringing and violating the Constitution.

The order dated June 30, 2023, was issued by Justice Mugure Thande.

Justice Thande granted orders in the first application after Busia Senator Okiya Omtatah objected to the Act because the Senate was not involved.

On July 5, the two issues will be discussed for more guidance.

Despite the court ruling preventing the implementation of the Finance Act 2023, the Energy and Petroleum Regulatory Authority (EPRA) announced the current petroleum pricing on Friday.
