President William Ruto nominated the late Chris Kirubi's son in law, lawyer Andrew Musangi as the next Central Bank of Kenya Chairperson.

National Assembly Speaker Moses Wetangula has announced the nomination of Andrew Musangi to be the next Central Bank of Kenya(CBK) chairperson.

The nominee's name has been forwarded to the Finance Committee for vetting.

Wetangula has directed the House Departmental Committee on Finance to conduct an approval hearing and submit its report when MPs resume from the short recess.

Upon approval, Musangi will take over for Mohammed Nyaoga, who resigned in June after serving his second term in office.

By developing policies (other than monetary policy) and evaluating performance, the Board of Directors supervises the Bank's operations.

The Chairman, the Governor, the Permanent Secretary to the National Treasury, and eight non-executive directors chosen by the President make up the Board's eleven members.
