The Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA) is set to introduce an online auction and tax amnesty on Monday, September 2, 2023, as it launches the Annual Taxpayer’s Month.
The physical auction, which was formerly held in Nairobi and Mombasa, will now be conducted online, allowing taxpayers from all across the country to participate.
Similarly, those who have fallen behind on their payments will benefit from the tax amnesty included by the Finance Act of 2023.
The amnesty considers all taxpayers who had accrued fines and interest as of December 31, 2022.
Taxpayers may settle the principle tax and waive all penalties and interest between September 1, 2023, and June 20, 2024.

The launch will be graced by President William Ruto and Cabinet Secretary for National Treasury and Economic Planning, Njuguna Ndung’u.
Others are KRA Board Chairman Anthony Mwaura and KRA Commissioner General Humphrey Wattanga, among other private and public guests.
Taxpayers will be recognized and awarded for upholding tax compliance in 2022.
Taxpayers’ Month also acts as a platform to encourage citizens to be tax-compliant, fund the national budget, and contribute to sustaining the economy.
This year’s Taxpayers’ Month theme is ‘Tunawiri’, which can be translated to ‘let us prosper’.
