A TikTok live video that circulated on the internet depicted the journalist in various settings, displaying unusual behavior. This led some netizens to speculate that he might have experienced a relapse into his previous mental health state.

In the video, Kimani appeared cheerful but spoke incoherently with an unusual voice. Fans noticed his unusual laughter, a departure from his previous demeanor.

In a different clip, he interacted with people in the background, referring to one as a neighbor and another as his dad, whom he invited to speak on the live video before being escorted away.

This incident occurred several months after Kimani's public appeal to Kenyans for financial assistance to raise Ksh200,000 to start a business and improve his financial situation.

In a detailed video, he disclosed his challenges since being diagnosed with bipolar disorder in 2020. Kimani expressed how the disorder had significantly impacted his life, leading to losses and strained relationships.
