A Kakamega court on Tuesday sentenced a 28-year-old man to 30 years in prison for killing his uncle using a blunt weapon at Shikokhwe village in Malava.
Ezekiel Barasa Shibweche was brought before Judge Chirchir Chebet and accused on the night between the 14th and 15th of April 2019 when he attacked Isaac Barasa and was killed.
Judging the sentence, Judge Chebet mentioned that the defendant was found guilty according to the evidence presented in court.
The court observed that Shibweche had been involved in situations of insecurity and had been hooked to marijuana smoking from infancy, having dropped out of school in the third grade.
In his self-defense before the court, Shibweche expressed regret and said that he had learned from his mistakes while in remand and that, should he be freed, he would not commit the same crimes.
