An ambulance taking a patient to hospital was involved in an accident after colliding with an oncoming vehicle in the Kerita area on the way to Eldoret.

"The ambulance hit the back of a trailer that was heading to Eldoret. It almost collided with an oncoming vehicle," Ainabkoi police boss Allois Muthoka said.

In a separate incident, three people were injured after an Eldoret-bound trailer collided head-on with a tractor at the Bayete area.

"The tractor was ferrying firewood and was heading in the opposite direction," witnesses told Citizen Digital.

The injured, on board the tractor, were rushed to Burnt Forest Hospital for treatment.

One injured was later referred to Moi Teaching and Referral Hospital in Eldoret.

Meanwhile, police are searching for the driver of the trailer which was involved in the first accident.
