Ten people have been detained by Makueni County police for smuggling and selling donkey meat in the area.
Antony Kiiru, Samson Kamau, Paul Kabura, Cyrus Nthumbi, Isaac Njoroge, Johnstone Kilunja, Samuel Mwangi, Andrew Kithiki, Carol Makau, and Francis Makau are the ten suspects who were taken into custody on Saturday following the police's seizure of two cars—a Toyota Fielder with registration number KDB 991U and a Toyota Wish with registration number KCK 434M—that were transporting donkey meat.
"Preliminary investigations suggest that the donkey meat was on transport to Shauri Moyo Market in Nairobi," the National Police Service (NPS) said in an X statement.
