Following a crackdown on illegal brew, drugs, and contraband goods at Sirima village in Ugenya sub-county, police in Siaya County on Tuesday arrested two women.

After searching the Sirima village residence of Pamela Atieno, 50, Ukwala Police Station officers found 60 liters of kangara.

Following a tip, they went to the 24-year-old Beryl Atieno's house and seized 16 rolls of bhang, 100 liters of kangaroo, 17 liters of change, and 16 sticks of unusual cigarettes.

Following the government chemist's examination of the exhibits, the two women were taken into custody and held at the Ukwala Police Station until their arraignment in court, according to Siaya County Police Commander Cleti Kimaiyo, who verified the raid.

He issued a warning against the sale of illicit alcohol and said that the area will remain under siege until these kinds of illegal enterprises are eradicated.

Using the occasion, Mr. Kimaiyo urged the public to look for alternate sources of income, emphasizing that committing crimes does not pay.
