Concerns about "collapsed" power lines in the area have been voiced by the people living in Rabwao village in Nyatike, Migori county.

The locals claim that the hanging power lines still seriously endanger themselves and their animals.

If not appropriately erected, some of the falling electric poles could constantly endanger the residents of homesteads.

The situation has been attributed to the ongoing rains. Still, locals are worried because Kenya Power representatives stationed nearby have not yet visited the area to replace the poles and restore power in some areas.

"Young children cannot play freely around the home, neither can we allow our cattle to wander freely in the grazing fields," Moses Okeyo, a resident of Customs in Muhuru told Wananchi Reporting.

Furthermore, the villagers worry that small children could easily be electrocuted while walking to school since the schools are scheduled to reopen in January.

The situation is causing residents to worry that there may be extended blackouts.

The residents are pleading with Kenya Power to quickly restore the situation before a disaster occurs.
