A suspect in ferrying 298 kilograms of bhang, believed to have a street value of Ksh.8.9 million, along the Siaya-Nyadorera Road is being held by police in Siaya County.

After a brief police pursuit during which they fired at Justis Onyango Malaki's vehicle's tires in an attempt to immobilize it, the officers captured him on Thursday.

Malaki tried to escape on foot once the car was immobilized, but police officers soon apprehended him and took him into custody. Six sacks containing the bhang were found by police when they examined the vehicle.

On Monday, the suspect is expected to appear in court, where he will face charges related to drug trafficking.
