A dramatic incident unfolded at the court premises during midday when John Matara, the accused in the Starlet Wahu murder case, was assaulted by unidentified individuals while being escorted to the courtroom. Following the attack on his client, Matara's lawyer is now vociferously protesting the incident. The attorney expressed deep regret over the unfortunate assault on his client that occurred within the courthouse premises.

The lawyer further revealed that his client had previously experienced a similar ordeal, having been attacked by two individuals a few days earlier while in police custody. Expressing concern for his client's safety, the attorney contends that these incidents have put his client's life at risk. Given that his client has cooperated fully with the Directorate of Criminal Investigation, the lawyer is now urging the court to consider granting bail.

This development occurred after Matara was detained for an additional 21 days to facilitate the completion of investigations by the Directorate of Criminal Investigation (DCI). Matara's arrest was in connection with the demise of socialite Starlet Wahu at an Airbnb in Nairobi. Despite the allegations, Matara vehemently denied any involvement in her death.
