Police in Kipkelion, Kericho County, have launched an investigation after a man beat his son to death.
According to the police report, they are holding the man who allegedly beat his son to death for drinking too much and refusing to return to university to continue his studies.
The defendant, known as Kakamega, is accused of assaulting his son, a fourth-year student at Karatina University, for consuming alcohol rather than returning to the college, which reopened earlier this month.

According to residents, the guy got home and discovered the boy inebriated, which irritated him.
He allegedly confronted his son, demanding to know why he had yet to report back to the university despite having sold his farm and other family assets to support his studies.
Following a brief disagreement, the irate father grabbed a piece of wood, wrestled his son to the ground, and began beating and seriously injuring him.
The man's wife was not at home when the incident occurred because she had gone to the burial of a relative in Nandi County.
Villagers who heard the alarm screams came to the homestead and rescued the youngster from his enraged father, who was baying for his blood.
They transported him to Fort Ternan Sub-County Hospital for first aid before transferring him to Kericho County Referral Hospital, where he died from his injuries while receiving treatment.
The suspect was apprehended and is currently being held at Kipkelion Police Station for arraignment until the inquiry is completed.
