A middle-aged man was sentenced to 20 years in jail after being found guilty of sexually assaulting a minor.

On Wednesday, a Kangundo court convicted Micah Mutua Mule and sentenced him to prison.

According to the Office of the Director of Public Prosecution (ODPP), Mutua committed the offense on July 1, 2020, in Kwa Matingi Kambi in Kisukuoni Location, Matungulu Sub-county, Machakos County.

Principal Magistrate Daffline Sure ruled that the prosecution, led by Prosecution Counsel Vivianne Nyangena and Mirriam Mwaura, had proven its case to the standard required by law.

The court stated that four prosecution witnesses provided corroborating evidence against the accused and that the accused failed to exonerate himself of the charges against him, leaving the court with no choice but to convict and sentence him in line with the law.
