A police officer at Nguka police post in Mwea West, Kirinyaga County, escaped death on Sunday night after he was caught with a form one student in his house within the police post compound.

This sparked outrage, with villagers camping at the police post, ready to set the houses on fire.

The teenager’s mother said that the officer had been defiling her daughter, and a trap was laid to catch him on Sunday night.

“He was saved from the agitated villagers by the DCI, but I was shocked to see the officer who is supposed to protect my daughter is the one walking away with my daughter in the village,' the mother said.

On the other hand, the girl's father said the officer had bought soda for the girl, before luring her into his house.

The girl was later rushed to Sagana sub-county hospital for medical test as the police officer is being held at Kiamaciri police station.
