A 35-year-old man is being held by police in Buuri East Constituency, Meru County after he killed his father and stepmother with a machete. 

A police report obtained by Citizen Digital claims that John Mwongera assaulted his stepmother, Eunice Kangai, and father, Julius Kirimi, 67, over what appeared to be a land dispute. 

 

According to reports, Mwongera killed his father by severing his right hand, left palm, left shoulder, and right side of his head.

The stepmother was then attacked by the suspect, who slashed her head, neck, upper hand, and right ear, according to the police. 

A portion of the police report states, "The motive of the murder is suspected to be land dispute." 

After arriving at the scene, police took the bodies to the mortuary of Mwenda Antu Hospital. 

 "The suspect was taken into police custody pending his arraignment in court after he later presented himself to the Kiirua police station carrying the murder weapon (panga)," the police report continues.
