A middle-aged woman was found murdered, and her body was dumped close to rice farms at Cumbiri along Mutithi-Kandongu-Kagio road in the Mwea-West Sub-County. Detectives from Kirinyaga County are looking into this incident.

Startled locals in Mutithi Ward claimed that the 50-year-old woman's nude body had been discovered by rice laborers on their way to their farms early in the morning.

The locals, led by Susan Wambui and Irungu Kubatha, informed the police that the woman was not from the area and that she might have been murdered somewhere else before being dumped there.

"I wonder why somebody decided to kill this beautiful woman, who is totally naked," James Maina said

Wambui added: "This woman is not from this area we suspect she was murdered elsewhere and the body ferried to the scene as no one around this place seems to know her."

The incident was verified by Kirinyaga police commander Andrew Naibei, who also stated that the body had been taken to the mortuary at Kerugoya Level Four Hospital and was awaiting a postmortem.

Because this is the second incident along Mwea-West Sub-County roads; a woman's body was discovered in a similar state two weeks ago. Residents called for increased security in the area.

They claim that she was killed near Rukanga on Makutano-Sagana Road and that she was subsequently recognized as a blogger from Tharaka Nithi County.

Thus, the police chief promised that while they continued investigating the situation, security would be strengthened by stepping up nighttime patrols along the busy highway.

He added that the body's identification process had already started.
