A man has been arrested for allegedly stealing a motorbike belonging to the local chief in Narok.

According to Ndamama Sub Location Assistant Chief Michael Bii, he left his motorbike in the shade only for it to go stolen.

"I joined a church procession in the village and upon returning, my motorbike was missing," Bii said.

The assistant chief set out on a recovery expedition, armed with contact information from his colleagues and informants.

"I have suffered a great deal, walking across my area of jurisdiction after the bike was stolen," Bii said.

Bii's perseverance ultimately paid off, as perching on a bicycle was not an option. Patrick Chumiot was apprehended while hiding in Kericho County with a motorbike number plate.

The suspect, in his twenties, is being held at the Njipiship police station for further investigation.

"He's a notorious thief in our neighborhood. "My stolen motorbike was a blessing in disguise," the administrator said.
