"Beware of Substandard Fertiliser: The product trading under the name "GPC Original Plus Organic Fertiliser" manufactured by SBL Innovate Manufacturers Limited does NOT meet the requirements of the Kenyan Standards for Organic Fertiliser KS 2290:2018," the agency stated.

KEBS said that the government-approved subsidized fertilizer passes all safety and quality criteria and that the GPC Original Plus Organic Fertiliser is not part of the fertilizer subsidy plan.

Agriculture Cabinet Secretary Mithika Linturi stated that his ministry intends to quadruple the quantity of subsidized fertilizer bags delivered this year, up from 6 million in 2023.
