Following the discovery of a middle-aged woman dead in the Karimenu River, Ndekei, Kariua, and Kiriko villages in Gatundu North, Kiambu County, are in deep mourning.

The body of the unidentified woman was discovered floating in the waters, according to Assistant Chief Peter Mbuthia Kihara of the Kariua sub-location, who confirmed the incident.

Near the site of the body discovery, on the riverbank, were found a variety of drugs and clothing items, such as a blouse, skirt, and pullover.

Local Beth Mugure said she had gone to harvest nappier grass for her livestock and noticed something unusual—clothes—near the river that diverted her attention.

She claimed that the woman's other clothing was lying by the river and that she was only wearing her underwear and a blouse.

The villagers gathered at the scene to observe after Mugure informed them.

The police arrived on the scene right away and helped remove the body from the river.

Although some have classified her death as possible suicide, the cause of death is still unknown.

Local authorities and residents have urged suffering women to seek alternative assistance from churches, other women, or chiefs to prevent similar incidents from happening again.

The villagers claimed that many residents were experiencing difficult times brought on by illnesses, social issues, and challenging economic times.

In anticipation of a postmortem, the body was taken to the General Kago mortuary in Thika town.

The police are looking into the incident.
