The death of a 22-year-old man who members of the public lynched for allegedly robbing a neighbor in the Nyagoko area is being investigated by police in Rarieda, Siaya County.

The man, only known as Ochieng, was beaten to death by enraged bystanders, and his body was discovered lying in a pool of blood at Jodongo Yuko village.

Acting Assistant Chief Luke Otieno reported the incident to the Aram police station.

When station officers arrived on the scene, they discovered that the deceased had been the victim of mob injustice because some members of the public had accused him of stealing some villager's personal belongings the day before.

While investigations are ongoing, the deceased's body was taken to the mortuary of the Madiany Sub-County Hospital. An autopsy is scheduled.
