An officer of the Kenya Defence Force (KDF) has been taken into custody in Homa Bay County on suspicion of taking part in the vicious killing of a thirty-year-old man at Sino village in Rachuonyo South Sub County.

The KDF officer allegedly worked with two other men to murder Collins Okiro.

The arrest comes after Okiro was shown in a video being beaten before his horrible murder, which has been making the rounds on social media.

A red piece of cloth was tied to Okiro's face, near the back of his head, to blindfold his eyes.

Rachuonyo South Sub-County Police Commander Lilies Wachira says the KDF officer, who was in company with his brother and another man, went to Okiro's house at Sino village on April 7 and convinced him to leave with them to a destination that was not clear to his wife.

According to Wachira, the deceased was taken to a secluded thicket in the area where he was brutally attacked to death by the KDF officer and two other suspects who are still at large.

Okiro's wife identified the KDF officer and his brother days later after his murder. This made officers from Oyugis police station start hunting the suspects until they arrested the KDF officer.

The officer is being detained at Oyugis police station as a search for the remaining two suspects in connection with the murder is ongoing.
