The Ethics and Anti-corruption Commission (EACC) has detained a Nairobi county government official on suspicion of corruption. Frederick Ochanda was arrested by detectives regarding the mismanagement of public funds within the Nairobi county government.

Numerous City Hall officials have been implicated in the misappropriation of public funds, accused of diverting funds intended for development projects within Nairobi county.

The Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission initiated investigations subsequent to the release of the Auditor General's report. The report disclosed that the Nairobi county government could not account for over one billion shillings.

Nairobi Governor Johnson Sakaja has faced severe criticism regarding corruption within the Nairobi county government. Numerous leaders have called for decisive action to be taken against all senior government officials implicated in the misappropriation of public funds.

For the past two years, Frederick Ochanda has held a position in the Nairobi County Planning Department. He is known to be a close associate of Johnson Sakaja. Ochanda has been accused of unlawfully granting construction approvals.

A government-led crackdown targeting corrupt government officials is underway. Recently, numerous officials have been arrested and brought before the court for their alleged involvement in the misappropriation of public funds in the country.

Detectives visited City Hall to probe the corruption allegations and gathered numerous official documents to serve as evidence in court. They are collaborating closely with the Director of Public Prosecutions to address the issue.
