Police in Kirinyaga county are looking for a shamba boy who escaped custody after being arrested for allegedly killing his employer.

The family of a 64-year-old widow who was murdered was furious at the officer's misconduct, wondering how the suspect was able to escape.

“I want justice and the suspect rearrested. I used my own money to see the suspect brought here from Uganda right now, they have released him,” Said Caroline Wangui, the deceased daughter.

Esther Wamuyu, a relative of the deceased, questioned how a suspect could flee a well-secured police station.

“We are going to stay here until we are given a proper explanation,” Wamuyu said.

Kirinyaga Senator James Kamau Murango has demanded the Interior Ministry explain why Kiamaciri has become notorious for wrongdoings.

"This is the same police station where police personnel sold a poisonous beer display, resulting in the deaths of over 20 people in Kangai and Mutithi. "Why is it always Kiamaciri?" Murango posed.

Following a months-long pursuit, Phillipino Muifi, 23, was apprehended by detectives in Nakuru on May 18, 2024. He was being held at Kiamaciri police station after a court ordered investigators to keep him for 14 days while they conducted investigations.

According to Kiamaciri police, Muifi vanished on Friday with another suspect who reportedly raped a goat in Kagio town.
