During the event, an armed Kiyogo allegedly used violence to take a Toyota Hilux truck worth Ksh.1.8 million from one James Kamau, whom he had drugged.

The prosecution presented eight witnesses to testify on the case at the Tamu Law Courts before Senior Principal Magistrate Amos Mokoross.

"The court noted that all exhibits and testimonies drove to the conclusion that the accused person jointly with others not before the court indeed committed the offence on the complainant," said the ODPP.

"In his judgement, the magistrate sentenced the accused person in the first count of robbery with violence to serve a death sentence and in the second count of administering an overpowering drug to the complainant, the accused person will serve five years imprisonment."

The death penalty will be suspended until the five-year term is completed.
