A man convicted of trafficking elephant tasks with an estimated street value of Ksh.500,000 has been ordered to pay ksh 20 million or serve 30 years in prison.
The accused, Anthony Ngila Masaku, appeared before Kibera Senior Principal Magistrate Samson Temu on Thursday and was accused of violating Section 92(4) of the Wildlife Conservation and Management Act 2013.
" The prosecution through Principal Prosecution Counsel, Mr. Samson Ng'etich proved that on 20th July is 2019 at Lafamilia Building Tala shopping Center, the convict was found with 4 pieces of elephant tusks with a street value of Ksh. 500,000," the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions (ODPP) said in a statement.
