Detectives from the Anti-Narcotics Unit, along with a multi-agency task force stationed at Sabaki Bridge, have apprehended a man suspected of being a notorious drug trafficker in Malindi.
The Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) confirmed the arrest, which led to the seizure of 38 heroin packages with an estimated street value of Ksh.14.54 million.
The suspect, identified as Salim Peter Katana, was arrested after authorities received a tip-off about his involvement in drug trafficking. Acting on this intelligence, officers raided his hideout in Ngerenya, Kilifi County, where they discovered 3.635 kilograms of heroin hidden in a bedroom.

In addition to the heroin, police also recovered Ksh.13,000, suspected to be proceeds from his illicit activities. Katana is currently being held at Malindi Police Station, where he awaits further legal proceedings on drug trafficking charges.
The DCI reiterated that this operation is part of a broader effort to dismantle criminal networks that endanger public safety. Authorities continue to urge citizens to report any information that could assist in combating drug-related crimes in Kenya.
