A 28-year-old woman is in custody at Siaya Police Station after allegedly stabbing her boyfriend to death on Saturday night in Mur-Ng’iya sub-location, Siaya County.

The suspect, Vivian Akoth, is accused of attacking her 35-year-old boyfriend, Charlton Obare, over suspected infidelity.

Grace Otieno, the Assistant Chief of Mur-Ng’iya sub-location, reported that Charlton arrived home around 9:00 PM with a friend, Reagan, shortly before Vivian followed. As Reagan was leaving, he heard a commotion and saw Vivian rushing past him in the dark, being chased by Charlton, who she had allegedly stabbed in the chest.

Charlton collapsed shortly afterward, overwhelmed by his injuries. Vivian reportedly called Reagan to check on Charlton’s condition and arranged for a motorbike to transport him to the hospital, where he was pronounced dead on arrival.

The Assistant Chief confirmed that police visited the scene, and Charlton’s body was taken to the Siaya County Referral Hospital mortuary. By that time, Vivian had fled. However, she later surrendered herself at the Siaya Police Station, where she is currently being held as investigations continue.

Otieno used the incident to urge young people to seek peaceful ways of resolving conflicts.
