Authorities in Rongo Sub-County have launched an investigation into the sudden death and burial of a General Service Unit (GSU) officer under unusual circumstances.
According to an incident report from Kamagambo Police Station, the officer—who was accompanied by his wife—passed away on March 27, 2025, while being taken to their church in Rongo. The following day, he was laid to rest within the church compound.
The report further indicates that the officer’s wife obtained a burial permit from the provincial administration, which allowed her to proceed with the burial in accordance with the church's doctrine.
Authorities suspect that the deceased had been exposed to radicalized teachings from the same church. It was revealed that law enforcement officers had previously visited the institution after the officer’s father reported concerns about his son’s involvement with the church.
Rongo Sub-County Deputy County Commissioner, George Matundura, confirmed awareness of the incident and stated that investigations are underway. He assured the public that appropriate legal action will be taken based on the findings.
