Police have detained an individual in Nairobi's Mukuru kwa Njenga slum on suspicion of being connected to the killing of a woman whose body was discovered in her home in Ruiru, Kiambu County, last month.

On February 8, Christine Makena Maingi was discovered dead at her home after calls to her phone went unanswered.

Investigations revealed that she might have been murdered by an unidentified person, even though the police had initially classified the case as a suicide.

Subsequent investigation found that on the nights of February 5 and 6, Maingi was with an unidentified individual.

Authorities claimed they tracked down and detained a 50-year-old man named Cristopher Kiptum Keter at his slum hideout.

According to the CCTV footage and phone communications, the officials stated that the suspect was the last person to be with the deceased on Wednesday.

Police are holding Keter while he awaits his arraignment on March 9.
