A man who went on the run last week after killing his father in Mukangu village in Ndia, Kirinyaga County, has been arrested.
According to Kirinyaga West Sub-county police commander Moses Koskei, 35-year-old George Muriithi Mutero was arrested while hiding in Ol Kalou village, Nyandarua County.
Family members told the police that George stabbed his father with a kitchen knife over ten times before he went on the run. They believe the suspect was under the influence of drugs when the incident happened.
"Muriithi had been using bhang and other hard drugs he cannot look at you for fear of overuse of bhang," Paul Mugo said.

The suspect will be arraigned after the police complete their investigation, the deceased's body is at the mortuary, and the funeral is set to happen on Saturday.

On Tuesday, March 7, Christopher Kiptum Keter, 50, hid in Mukuru kwa Njenga slums in Embakasi. Kiptum had been on the run since February 8, 2023, after learning that he was a person of interest in the murder of Christine Makena Maingi.
Police reports indicate that the deceased was last seen in the company of pastor kiptum. Detectives obtained CCTV footage and mobile phone communications that disclosed that kiptum and the dead were together on February 5th and 6th before Makena's decomposing body was discovered two days later dumped in a residential building in the Gathogora area of Ruiru Sub-County.
Christine Makena Maingiwas laid to rest in meru on February 18 while kiptum is at the police station awaiting his case to be heard as investigators continue their investigations.
