According to a police complaint, the cop assaulted a lodge at 3 a.m., stating that his girlfriend had come in with another guy. He was denied entry and quickly threw tear gas before fleeing on a motorbike.

Later, the police proceeded to a nightclub on the Kisumu-Nairobi route and launched another canister, but members of the public apprehended him.

He was assaulted by a mob and was brought to Jaramogi Oginga Odinga Teaching and Referral Hospital, where he is being treated for injuries.
