The Kenya Baseball 5 young team expects government help as they prepare for the next World Cup Qualifiers in Cape Coast, Ghana, next month.

Kenya Baseball Federation head Titus Mutwiri believes that with proper preparation, the junior team may outperform their seniors, who competed in last year's World Cup in Mexico.

Mutwiri has identified Kenya Baseball Federation president Titus Mutwirias their key competitors in the qualifications.

"Right now, we're concentrating on defeating South Africa with the juniors because they were the only team that beat our senior team on their way to qualifying for the World Cup last year," Mutwiri explained. "However, we need proper preparations to beat them given their level."

From April 24, a group of 16 players will camp at the Moi International Sports Centre Kasarani under coach Joel Wangisho, who will subsequently choose a final roster of eight players before the journey to Ghana.

This year's qualifying will take place from May 14 to May 23. The Youth Baseball World Cup will feature just 12 countries, with France and Turkey already qualified for the competition, the host of which has yet to be determined.
